3rd ANNUAL LA BELLA STRADA ARTS FESTIVAL

Artists working in all media are invited to apply for a booth in Allied Arts of Whatcom County’s 3rd Annual La Bella Strada Arts Festival to be held in Downtown Bellingham on August 9 and 10, 2008.  Fine artisans and crafts people are invited to submit an application by April 1st for jury consideration.  Click here for a full prospectus and application.

This event has broken new ground in Bellingham and has been touted as “one of the most important things to happen to downtown in a long time” by a Cornwall Avenue business owner.    This year we are creating an even more dynamic event with greater numbers of artist booths, a wider variety of adult and children performances throughout the festival space, and more hands-on opportunities for all ages.  In addition, Allied Arts is developing new and exciting collaborations.  Watch for the Downtown Renaissance Network’s Bite of Bellingham event to join the La Bella Strada festivities on Cornwall Avenue this year!  A real crowd pleaser, the Bite of Bellingham draws thousands and offers the opportunity to celebrate the culinary arts of Bellingham.

Also on Saturday, August 9, Allied Arts will host the 16th Annual Chalk ArtFest – a perennial favorite with people from across the county who come downtown to enliven the sidewalks with colorful ‘chalked’ works of art.

Allied Arts of Whatcom County is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to create and foster an environment in which the arts are an integral part of our community by supporting and encouraging the arts and artists of Whatcom County.  For more than 28 years, Allied Arts has been a principal driving force in cultivating the arts and artists of Whatcom County, and now serves more than 100,000 people annually. Through sponsorship of exhibits, events and programs focused on local artists, delivery of arts education to the local schools, and public advocacy for the arts, Allied Arts continues to create vibrant and prosperous community.  For further information on La Bella Strada Arts Festival, the Chalk ArtFest or Allied Arts of Whatcom County call (360) 676-8548, e-mail director @alliedarts.org, or visit www.alliedarts.org.
