ALLIED ARTS EDUCATION PROJECT


"Every Child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up." - Pablo Picasso

Hands Allied Arts of Whatcom County established the Education Project over 5 years ago. This project has brought together local arts organizations, schools, artists, and art enthusiasts to pay the artists for educating our children in creative skills.

Allies Arts Education Project (AAEP) is committed to supporting our community develop equal access arts education programs that create cultural awareness, engage all intelligences, and promote the value of arts as basic education. WE...

1. HELP schools implement state art standards through classroom workshops and residencies.
2. TRAIN and MENTOR educators.
3. STRENGTHEN community patnerships.
4. ADVOCATE for Arts Education.

The Allied Arts Education Project (AAEP) administers the Artists in School and Community (AISC) roster program and is partially funded by Allied Arts through a grant from the Washington State Arts Commission.roster

Become involved by joining one of four committees:

1. Help develop a local artist resource guide and a system by which to make these resources available to schools and community groups.

2. Assist with the annual Children's Gallery Walk in downtown Bellingham during early May. Over 1,500 pieces of student art will be exhibited, plus performing arts.

3. Research and plan a local Arts Education Training Institute to address the growing need for professional development in arts education.
